Christmas Planters

fullsizeoutput_314

Now I’ve never been a big fan of plants so much, I do keep a few in the garden but always felt a pull more towards flowers than plants, well until now.

I do love these mixed planters as they make an excellent gift idea and they look really pretty. My mum is plant crazy, w can never pass a garden centre without going in and buying the whole plant section. You know that scene in Jaws where they are hunting the shark itself and there is that classic line ‘we’re gonna need a bigger boat’ well I quote a similar line which is ‘we’re gonna need a bigger car’ when it comes to plant buying with my mum.

Yes you’ve guessed it, she has already snapped one of these up and they have actually given me a new love for plants, I may reconsider now and learn to love the plant. It has given me a bit of inspiration for more ideas for gifts as an alternative to flowers. As florists we have to keep our minds open to new ideas all the time.

Christmas Arrangements and Wreaths

I think I’m getting a little excited for the festive period as I’ve gone wreath crazy. They are really enjoyable to make up and as floristry crosses over to crafting it involves a glue gun, my favourite piece of equipment.

I’ve added two more artificial wreaths to the collection which are a little smaller than some of the others I have done. These are 14″ (35cm)and include cream and gold decorations, a glittery rose, hypericum berries and wooden Christmas toppers. The red one pictured is decorated with artificial poinsettia flowers and red berries.

I also made a flower arrangement within a cracker, this can be made in artificial or fresh flowers and makes a great table decoration or a feature on a mantlepiece. The crackers are available in gold (pictured), silver and red.
